Miniseries debuts October 27 on HBO. Tom Perrotta (Election, The Leftovers) adapts his own best-selling novel into a comedic, seven-episode HBO miniseries that finds two people exploring their newfound personal freedom. One, played by Kathryn Hahn (terrific, as usual) is a 40-something single mother dealing with an empty home for the first time, and the other is her son (Jackson White), who enters his freshman year of college. Critics saw the first three hours (including the opener directed by Nicole Holofcener) at TIFF, and had a variety of reactions ranging from impressed to underwhelmed.
