Missing Bridgerton? This might tide you over while you wait for the third season. This latest take on the 18th century French novel Les Liaisons dangereuses—a tale of romance and backstabbing which has been adapted multiple times in seemingly every medium imaginable, though this is the first English-language TV adaptation— depicts the romantic entanglements of members of the court of Louis VXI in 18th century Paris, and, in particular, the origin story of the complicated relationship between Merteuil (Alice Englert) and Valmont (Nicholas Denton). The reimagining comes from Harriet Warner (Call the Midwife, Tell Me Your Secrets) and also stars Leslie Manville, Paloma Faith, and Game of Thrones alumni Carice van Houten and Michael McElhatton.
