Movie debuts November 10 on Netflix
Already one of the better movies of 2021 thanks to excellent reviews out of Sundance, this directorial debut from actress Rebecca Hall is an adaptation of Nella Larsen’s 1929 novel. Filmed in black and white, the drama stars Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga as high school friends who happen to meet up on a hot day in 1920s New York City and explores how, even though both can “pass” as white, only one of them chooses to do so. Netflix will give the film an awards-season push by also debuting Passing in theaters beginning October 27.
