Movie debuts November 30 on Netflix
This French/Belgian production is a conventionally animated adaptation of the late Jiro Taniguchi's hit manga (itself based on a novel by Baku Yumemakura) about a journalist who embarks on a mountain-climbing expedition to search for a camera belonging to legendary mountaineer George Mallory—a camera that may contain evidence that Mallory was the first to summit Mount Everest. Summit is already earning praise for its animated climbing sequences, which Variety's Michael Nordine says "feel no less real than their live-action counterparts," and some industry experts predict that it will make the Oscars animated feature shortlist. In addition to its Netflix debut at the end of the month, the film will also receive a limited theatrical release beginning November 24.
