Season 2 debuts November 26 on HBO and HBO Max
An out-of-nowhere critical hit when it debuted a year ago, this comedy-reality hybrid offers half-hour visual essays consisting of a soft-spoken man who narrates footage of his life and New York City that he himself films. Ostensibly covering topics ranging from scaffolding to cooking risotto, the season 1 episodes were really about people (including Wilson himself) and connections, and the results were often laugh-out-loud funny (and even poignant at times), but always surprising. (It's no coincidence that Nathan for You creator Nathen Fielder is a producer on How To.) HBO hasn't revealed any details about this second season, but one thing will certainly be different this time: It was filmed in New York during the pandemic.
Another cult favorite comedy series that shares How To's low-key sensibility is Joe Pera Talks With You. And that show will also return for a new season this month, beginning November 7 on Adult Swim.
