Movie debuts November 19 on HBO Max
The latest Warner Bros. theatrical release to head to HBO Max on day one is theoretically a biopic about tennis greats Venus and Serena Williams. But, as you may have guessed from the title, the focus of the film is actually on their father/coach Richard Williams, played by Will Smith, since that is apparently more marketable. Still, the Williams sisters are producers on the film, and the November release date suggests that WB has some hope of positioning Richard for awards. Universally positive reviews out of its festival debut in September are another good sign. Saniyya Sidney, Demi Singleton, Jon Bernthal, Tony Goldwyn, and Dylan McDermott also star for director Reinaldo Marcus Green (Joe Bell).
