81 Arrival

Director Denis Villeneuve’s success with this sci-fi story about a language expert (Amy Adams) brought in to work with a theoretical physicist (Jeremy Renner) to communicate with a visiting alien species bodes well for those looking forward to the director’s Blade Runner sequel. Based on Story of Your Life, a short story by Ted Chiang, the film has connected with critics on both an artistic and emotional level.
