15 Films to See in November
In a month filled with potential best picture nominees (most notably, Manchester by the Sea and Arrival), potential blockbusters (like Doctor Strange, Disney's Moana, and Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), and intriguing works by auteurs like Tom Ford, Warren Beatty, and Paul Verhoeven, there should be no shortage of films to see in theaters. Check out the 15 most promising titles headed to the big screen in November in the gallery below.
Writer-director Jeff Nichols’ second film of 2014, following March’s sci-fi family drama Midnight Special, is based on the true story of Virginia couple Richard and Mildred Loving (Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), who married in Washington D.C. in 1958 but upon returning to their home in Virginia were jailed for violating the state’s prohibition against interracial marriage. Over the next nine years the Lovings fought for their marriage, taking their case all the way to the Supreme Court. Good early reviews from the film’s debut in Cannes and timely subject matter make it one to watch for when the Academy Award nominations are announced in January.
