Falling somewhere between sequel and brand-new IP, this Square Enix-published role-playing game hails from Tokyo RPG Factory, the developers behind the 2016 game I Am Setsuna. Lost Sphear is billed as a "spiritual successor" to that game, and it shares Setsuna's obvious affinity for the classic JRPG Chrono Trigger.
But while the imagery and some of the gameplay may evoke nostalgia for the 1990s, the "active-time" combat system has been revamped to provide more freedom of movement. And the premise sounds intriguing: You play as a boy named Kanata whose world is based on memories. Those memories (like any) fade over time—and, with them, so do portions of your world, which are then replaced by a white fog.
The game will also be released on PS4 and PC.
