Most Anticipated Video Games of 2016, Part 2: New IP and Indie Releases
Earlier this week, we previewed the most-anticipated videogame sequels and remakes coming in 2016. Now, it's time to look at a second batch of games that may be even more important to the future of gaming: brand-new IP. These newcomers may not yet have the name recognition that the established franchises have earned, but will hopefully bring something fresh and original to game consoles (and PCs) this year.
This unique first-person adventure/exploration game is the creation of Campo Santo, a new studio founded by Telltale Games veterans. For Firewatch, they've teamed with artist Olly Moss to create a stylish and immersive experience that has you serving as a solitary fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness as you take a break from your failing marriage. Things aren't quite as straightforward as they first seem, and your only connection to the outside world is a walkie-talkie that you use to communicate with your boss.
