Most Anticipated Video Games of 2016, Part 2: New IP and Indie Releases
Earlier this week, we previewed the most-anticipated videogame sequels and remakes coming in 2016. Now, it's time to look at a second batch of games that may be even more important to the future of gaming: brand-new IP. These newcomers may not yet have the name recognition that the established franchises have earned, but will hopefully bring something fresh and original to game consoles (and PCs) this year.
The newest property from Borderlands studio Gearbox Software is a blend of first-person shooter and MOBA with vibrant, cartoonish graphics. Set in a very distant future that seems to have enough room to encompass both sci-fi and fantasy elements (the 25 playable characters include an elf and a robot, for example), Battleborn will feature a story mode for 1-4 players (with both local and online co-op available) in addition to a team-based competitive multiplayer mode.
