Most Anticipated Video Games of 2016, Part 2: New IP and Indie Releases
Earlier this week, we previewed the most-anticipated videogame sequels and remakes coming in 2016. Now, it's time to look at a second batch of games that may be even more important to the future of gaming: brand-new IP. These newcomers may not yet have the name recognition that the established franchises have earned, but will hopefully bring something fresh and original to game consoles (and PCs) this year.
The second game from The Unfinished Swan developer Giant Sparrow is a collection of short stories about a cursed family in the Pacific Northwest, taking place at various points in time from the early 1900s to the present day. Each story ends in a family member's death, while your present-day character, Edith Finch, attempts to figure out why she's the only surviving Finch. The developers are billing it as "the strangest game you'll play all year," thanks to its mix of influences that range from David Lynch to Jim Henson.
