Monkey movies are making a comeback.
With two big-time movies starring primates—Kong: Skull Island and War for the Planet of the Apes—bowing in 2017, we thought it was time to rank all of the monkey movies of the past 25 years by Metascore.
Set in San Francisco, this 2011 film is the origin story to the Planet of the Apes saga. The prequel follows the development of a serum that increases ape intelligence.
The Philadelphia Inquirer said this Rupert Wyatt-helmed movie is a “shamelessly fun B-movie with A-movie effects.”
