Film's One-Hit Wonders: 30 Directors With Only One Good Movie
Even the worst directors have one good film in them. Well, at least some of them do. In the gallery above, we've identified 30 filmmakers from the past four decades who have directed at least five features but have managed to receive positive reviews for just a single one of their films.
Slightly more prolific (but no better, save for one exception) as a writer than as a director, the L.A. native is perhaps best known for his Chronicles of Riddick series, which currently includes three films (with a fourth possibly on the way). Critics aren't fond of those films—or any of Twohy's directorial work, for that matter—but they did somewhat enjoy his straightforward, Hawaii-set thriller A Perfect Getaway.
Note that we don't have a score for Twohy's direct-to-video 1992 debut Timescape.
The one good film:
63 A Perfect Getaway (2009)
Everything else:
56 The Arrival (1996)
49 Pitch Black (2000)
55 Below (2002)
38 The Chronicles of Riddick (2004)
49 Riddick (2013)
