Fans of author Michael Connelly have two new series to look forward to in May, and they are debuting just a week apart. Up first is a spinoff from the recently concluded Amazon series Bosch and it'll be the debut original program on the newly rechristened, ad-supported free streaming service Amazon Freevee (formerly IMDb TV). Picking up after the events of Bosch's final season. Legacy returns Titus Welliver returns as the title character, who has left the LAPD and now works as a private detective for attorney Honey Chandler (Mimi Rogers, also returning). Meanwhile, his daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz) is a rookie LAPD cop. New faces include Stephen A. Chang, David Moses, Denise Sanchez, and William Devane. Four episodes stream on day one, and you'll get two more each Friday through May 27.
The following week brings David E. Kelley's latest legal series, which is adapted from Connelly's Mickey Haller novels (previously the inspiration for a decent 2011 movie starring Matthew McConaughey). Here, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (Goliath) takes on the role of Haller, an idealistic L.A. attorney who runs his practice out of the back seat of his Town Car. This first season of the Netflix series actually borrows the story of the second novel, The Brass Verdict, and also stars Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Angus Sampson, and Jazz Raycole. All 10 episodes will be available to binge on day one.
