Sci-fi series debuts May 5 on Paramount+
The newest live-action Star Trek series is a spinoff from Discovery that takes place aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise in the decade prior to Kirk's captaincy, when the crew is led by Anson Mount's Captain Pike. Also back from Discovery are Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Ethan Peck as Spock. New faces include Jess Bush (as Nurse Chapel), Celia Rose Gooding (as Uhura), Christina Chong (as the new character La'an Noonien-Singh, whose last name links her to the fan-favorite and occasionally wrathful Ricardo Montalbán character Khan Noonien Singh), Babs Olusanmokun (as Dr. M’Benga, a deep cut character from TOS), Melissa Navia, and Bruce Horak. Co-creator Akiva Goldsman has suggested that Strange New Worlds will be closer to Gene Roddenberry's original series in both tone and its episodic nature than other recent Star Trek titles. New episodes stream weekly, and a second season (which will feature Paul Wesley joining the cast as some guy named James T. Kirk) is already filming.
