Miniseries debuts May 31 on Hulu
Directed in its entirety by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire), this six-part, FX-produced (but Hulu exclusive) miniseries retells a portion of the life story of Steve Jones—in particular, his three years as the founding guitarist for the Sex Pistols. Adapted from Jones' own 2017 memoir Lonely Boy by screenwriter Craig Pearce, the series stars Toby Wallace as Jones, Anson Boon as frontman John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten), Louis Partridge and Christian Lees as bassists Sid Vicious and Glen Matlock, respectively, and Jacob Slater as drummer Paul Cook. Also appearing are Sydney Chandler (as rocker Chrissie Hynde), Talulah Riley and Maisie Williams (as punk fashion innovators Vivienne Westwood and Jordan, respectively), Emma Appleton (as Nancy Spungen), and Thomas Brodie-Sangster as impresario/manager Malcolm McLaren. And despite a (losing) lawsuit filed by the real-life Lydon, who is unhappy with his lack of participation in the show, Pistol will indeed feature the band's music.
