Sci-fi series debuts May 20 on Prime Video
Irene and Franklin York (Sissy Spacek and J.K. Simmons) are just an ordinary retired couple with an ordinary house with an ordinary portal to another planet buried in their backyard. Well ... maybe that last item isn't so ordinary. (But we are still waiting to hear from our Realtor about how it impacts home value.) Available to stream in its entirety on day one, the eight-episode Night Sky (originally titled Lightyears) finds the Yorks guarding their strange secret—and, of course, using it for quick trips to space—for two decades until a young man (Chai Hansen) enters their lives, throwing everything they thought they knew into question. The series comes from newcomer Holden Miller, while directors include Juan José Campanella (The Secret in Their Eyes) and the team of Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer Berman (American Splendor).
