What to Watch in May: 28 Most-Anticipated TV Shows & Streaming Movies
The month ahead will bring animated Star Wars and Marvel shows, a new Tina Fey comedy, the returns of Master of None and Mythic Quest, and more. In the gallery above, our editors have selected the most interesting TV and movie titles debuting at home in the next month, listed in order by premiere date.
Animated series debuts May 21 on Hulu. With Disney+ becoming the new TV home for Marvel, Hulu canceled most of the Marvel projects it had in the pipeline (or already on the air). But a pair of animated series remain at the streaming service, and up first is M.O.D.O.K., short for Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing, a large-headed, mid-tier supervillain facing difficulties in his professional and personal life. He is voiced by Patton Oswalt, who is also a producer and co-creator of the series along with former Community writer Jordan Blum, so expect a comedic approach to the material—especially since the voice cast also features a number of comedic actors including Ben Schwartz, Sam Richardson, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Melissa Fumero, Beck Bennet, Jon Daly, Jon Hamm, Nathan Fillion, Bill Hader, and Whoopi Goldberg. (And also because in one episode M.O.D.O.K. uses time travel to attempt to win back his wife by taking her to a Third Eye Blind concert that she once missed.)
