Stand-up special debuts May 26 on Netflix. One of the most talked-about and unprecedented comedy specials of the past decade, 2018's Nanette found Australian comedian Hannah Gadsby pivoting mid-set into bracingly personal, angry, and uncompromising material about abuse, trauma, and gender identity. That sets the bar almost impossibly high for her follow-up, Douglas (titled after her dog), and while the new special doesn't have the structural novelty of its predecessor (indeed, it follows the same basic blueprint), it still showcases Gadsby's one-of-a-kind storytelling skills as she explores her recent autism diagnosis. (Oh, and it's funny, too.)
