Michael B. Jordan makes his directorial debut with this ninth film in the Rocky franchise, and first without an appearance by Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa. Written by Zach Baylin (a recent Oscar nominee for his King Richard screenplay) and Keenan Coogler (Space Jam: A New Legacy), Creed III delves into Adonis Creed’s past through Damian (Jonathan Majors), a childhood friend who went to jail and, now that he’s out, has a score to settle with Adonis. Early reviews have been good, noting Jordan’s dynamic fight scenes and revealing it to be better than Creed II, but not quite up to the level of Ryan Coogler’s Creed.
