10 Films to See in March
The arrival of spring should bring with it some better (or at least bigger) options at the cineplex, including a promising new Disney animated film, a semi-sequel to Cloverfield, and a big question mark in Batman v Superman. But this month's big effects-driven disaster pic comes not from Hollywood, but from Norway. Art houses will also be graced with new films from noted directors Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Terrence Malick, Jeff Nichols, and Arnaud Desplechin.
The 55th feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios has received very good early reviews. Set in a metropolis where animals from every environment live together, the story focuses on Officer Judy Hopps, voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin. She’s the first bunny on the police force, and she’s determined to crack a case, but to do so she has to team up with a fox, Nick Wilde, voiced by Jason Bateman. Directed by Byron Howard (Tangled), Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph) and Jared Bush, the film’s well-timed message of tolerance has been a talking point for critics.
