10 Films to See in March
The arrival of spring should bring with it some better (or at least bigger) options at the cineplex, including a promising new Disney animated film, a semi-sequel to Cloverfield, and a big question mark in Batman v Superman. But this month's big effects-driven disaster pic comes not from Hollywood, but from Norway. Art houses will also be graced with new films from noted directors Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Terrence Malick, Jeff Nichols, and Arnaud Desplechin.
This surprise addition to the 2016 calendar has been described by producer J.J. Abrams as a “blood relative of Cloverfield.” It is “not Cloverfield 2,” and “there’s a new monster.” Beyond that, we know that the film, directed by Dan Trachtenberg and starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman and John Gallagher Jr., revolves around a young woman (Winstead) who wakes up from a car accident in the basement of a man (Goodman) who claims to have saved her life.
