A seven-episode adaptation of Thomas Perry's novel of the same name, The Old Man finds Jeff Bridges returning to a regular TV role for the first time since the early 1960s. (We're sure you remember his three appearances on The Lloyd Bridges Show.) He plays Dan Chase, a former CIA agent (played in flashbacks by Bill Heck) who is now living off the grid. But when he is the target of a failed assassination attempt, he finds that he can no longer escape his past. Another old man, John Lithgow, also stars as his former colleague turned pursuer, while the cast is filled out by the likes of Amy Brenneman, Alia Shawkat, Gbenga Akinnagbe, and E.J. Bonilla. The adaptation comes from Black Sails creators Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine, while the opener is directed by Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home). Two episodes air back-to-back on opening night.
