14 Films to See in June
June will bring more than just the usual assortment of explosions and CGI effects to the cineplex. There are promising new films from Edgar Wright, Sofia Coppola, and Bong Joon-ho, an unusually large number of well-reviewed indie comedies, and a terrific new horror film. There's also something even more rare: a good DC Comics film. Find details on these and all of June's most notable releases below.
A great cast (Alison Brie, Dave Franco, Kate Micucci, Aubrey Plaza, John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon, Nick Offerman, Fred Armisen, Jemima Kirke, Adam Pally, and Paul Reiser) is the strength of writer-director Jeff Baena’s third film, following Joshy and Life After Beth. The story centers on three nuns (played by Brie, Plaza and Micucci) who try to sleep with a newly arrived servant (Franco) staying at their convent. Inspired by Giovanni Boccaccio's The Decameron, the resulting contemporary comedic hijinks were praise upon the the film’s premiere at Sundance in January.
