There are promising new films from Edgar Wright, Sofia Coppola, and Bong Joon-ho, an unusually large number of well-reviewed indie comedies, and a terrific new horror film. There's also something even more rare: a good DC Comics film. Find details on these and all of June's most notable releases below.
Based on the real-life romance between writers Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon and starring Nanjiani and Zoe Kazan, this comedy directed by Michael Showalter (Hello, My Name Is Doris) follows the new couple as they struggle with cultural differences and a major illness. Scooped up by Amazon Studios for $12 million at Sundance (where it received great reviews) and starring Ray Romano and Holly Hunter as Kazan’s parents, the film is the most-anticipated rom-com of the summer.
