14 Films to See in June
June will bring more than just the usual assortment of explosions and CGI effects to the cineplex. There are promising new films from Edgar Wright, Sofia Coppola, and Bong Joon-ho, an unusually large number of well-reviewed indie comedies, and a terrific new horror film. There's also something even more rare: a good DC Comics film. Find details on these and all of June's most notable releases below.
Director Miguel Arteta and writer Mike White have worked together on two previous features (Chuck & Buck and The Good Girl) and a TV series (Enlightened). Their latest collaboration chronicles an evening at the Orange County mansion of Cathy (Connie Britton) and Grant (David Warshofsky), where Beatriz (Salma Hayek), a holistic healer, clashes with the Trump-like Douglas Strutt (John Lithgow). Also attending the dinner are Strutt’s third wife (Amy Landecker) and a younger couple played by Jay Duplass and Chloe Sevigny. The comedy earned mostly good reviews when it premiered at Sundance this year.
