11 Films to See in June
With summer movie season in full swing, you can expect multiple sequels (with Pixar's Finding Dory the most notable) in June. But you'll also find a surprising number of original and unconventional titles in theaters, including new films from Nicolas Winding Refn, Todd Solondz, Noah Baumbach, Taika Waititi, and more.
While its critical reception at Cannes was an improvement on that of 2013’s Only God Forgives, Nicolas Winding Refn’s latest feature failed to match the accolades of Drive (for which he won best director in 2011). Starring Elle Fanning as Jesse, a model whose youth and vitality are preyed upon by the Los Angeles fashion industry, this modern horror story features plenty of Refn’s hyper-stylized imagery as well as his predilection to shock.
