Also coming to mobile devices in September (when the game will support cross-platform play), Unite is a free-to-play strategic team battle spinoff from the Pokémon Company, which arrives ahead of the main Pokémon release (Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl) this fall. Still undated but announced just a few weeks ago as a July release, Unite will feature 5v5 real-time matches (not dissimilar from other MOBA games like League of Legends) across a variety of maps, with cooperation with your teammates a key to success. Each of the Pokémon in play takes on one of four specialized roles and receives a new move unique to Unite and is able to unlock new abilities as the match progresses. The game was developed by Tencent-owned TiMi Studios (who previously worked on Call of Duty: Mobile) and has attracted early criticism from the Pokémon community due to the atypical genre and the need to shell out money to unlock extra content.
