The latest from publisher Annapurna Interactive (one of the most consistently good indie publishers in recent years) comes from Variable State, the developer behind 2016's dialogue-free Virginia, a divisive but award-winning thriller. Last Stop can similarly be described as "cinematic," but that's mostly where the comparisons end. A single-player, third-person supernatural adventure, the new game tasks you with playing as three different characters (a single father, a ruthless businesswoman, and a high schooler) in present-day London in a mysterious story that appears to be episodic, though the three storylines do converge toward the end of the game. Gameplay unfolds via a mix of dialogue (with many hours of voice acting), exploration, and minigames, and Last Stop also features a full orchestral score.
