Coverage begins July 23 on NBC
Regardless of whether or not it's a good idea (and if your initials aren't IOC or NBC, it's probably not), the Tokyo Olympics appear to be on track for a July start after a yearlong delay. The first summer Olympics to be broadcast in 4K HDR (assuming your TV provider makes the feed available to you), the Tokyo Games will air across all of NBC's TV networks and streaming services, with 250 hours on NBC itself (including a nightly primetime broadcast) and nearly 7,000 additional hours on cable and online. Most of the major events will also stream live for free on Peacock, which will also have exclusive Olympics programming from Amber Ruffin, Rich Eisen, and the team of Kevin Hart and Snoop Dogg (who will host a comedic highlights show). Events will kick off with NBC's first ever live morning broadcast of an opening ceremony beginning at the eye-opening time of 6:55a ET/3:55a PT on July 23rd, with a replay in the evening for those of you who value sleep.
