14 Films to See in July
July's highlights include the latest Marvel and Planet of the Apes films (which are already receiving strong reviews), Christopher Nolan's new WWII epic, many of this year's better Sundance entries, and possibly the year's top documentary. We have picked out all of this month's intriguing releases—including a pair of Netflix exclusives—below.
Following The Dance of Reality, Alejandro Jodorowsky’s second autobiographical feature (in a planned series of five) shows that the 87-year-old Chilean director isn’t slowing down. Picking up where his last film left off, Jodorowsky, with the help of Christopher Doyle’s cinematography, reimagines his young adulthood in 1940s and '50s Santiago, where he wanted to become a poet. Jodorowsky’s youngest son, Adan, plays the filmmaker.
