The provocative Mexican director Amat Escalante (Heli) won the Silver Lion for Best Director at the 2016 Venice Film Festival for this realistic family drama with a sexual extraterrestrial twist. Examining the homophobia and misogyny of Mexican society through a sci-fi lens, Escalante’s vision will challenge even the most seasoned filmgoer.
