With a story by Searching writer-director Aneesh Chaganty, writer-directors Nicholas D. Johnson and Will Merrick make their feature debuts with this computer screen thriller about June (Storm Reid), whose mother (Nia Long) disappears while on vacation with her new boyfriend in Colombia. Stuck at home in Los Angeles, June’s digital sleuthing makes her question how well she knows her mom despite how close they are. Switching the perspective from Searching by focusing on a child looking for a parent could add enough twists to make this a fresh take on familiar material.
