New series debuts January 28 on Apple TV+
Last year's Only Murders in the Building proved that, with the right talent involved, a blend of comedy and murder mystery could make for essential viewing. And Apple's new comedic mystery series about a murder at a high school reunion certainly has some intriguing names attached. The first live-action TV series created by Christopher Miller (whose longtime partner Phil Lord is also a producer on the show), The Afterparty features a terrific ensemble cast led by Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, Ilana Glazer, Ben Schwartz, Zoë Chao, Dave Franco, Ike Barinholtz, John Early, and Stath Lets Flats star Jamie Demetriou. Even more intriguing is the Rashomon-like structure that finds each episode retracing the events of the evening from a different character's perspective—with each episode adopting a different genre (including a musical episode) that best matches the featured character. Miller (21 Jump Street, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) also directs the entire eight-episode series, which opens with three episodes on day one followed by weekly single-episode installments on Fridays.
