Animated film debuts February 5 on HBO Max. Normally, the arrival of the first new Studio Ghibli film in four years would be an unequivocal treat. But the latest from director Goro Miyazaki (From Up on Poppy Hill) has fans of the legendary Japanese animation house upset for a single reason: It's the studio's first all-CGI feature, which means that it doesn't really look like a Ghibli movie. Let's hope the studio's storytelling skill remains intact. An adaptation of Diana Wynne Jones's novel that follows a 10-year-old orphan (the daughter of a witch) in 1990s England, the streaming Earwig features a new English-language dub voiced by Kacey Musgraves, Dan Stevens, and Richard E. Grant, among others.
