Drama film debuts February 19 on Hulu. The best-reviewed film of 2020 earned that title on a technicality—it had a few virtual screenings in December to qualify as a 2020 release—and now it finally reaches the wide audience it deserves with a simultaneous Hulu and theatrical opening. The third feature from Chloé Zhao (The Rider) is a beautifully shot and moving drama adapted from Jessica Bruder's nonfiction book about a 60-something woman (a certain-to-be-Oscar-nominated Frances McDormand) who loses her husband, job, and hometown during the late-2000s economic crisis and decides to live out of her van, traveling the country. Nomadland is expected to score multiple Oscar nominations (and will be the frontrunner to win in several categories) after becoming the first film in history to sweep the top awards at festivals in Venice and Toronto last fall.
