10 Films to See in February
While January (as is the norm) had little of quality to offer moviegoers other than holdovers from the previous year, February looks a lot more promising. This month will see the arrival of a new comedy from the Coen brothers, a thriller from John Hillcoat, several foreign dramas that have already collected raves from reviewers, and what could be 2016's best horror film.
Grímur Hákonarson’s critically-acclaimed sophomore narrative feature was Iceland’s submission to the Academy Awards for best foreign language film. It didn’t make the final cut, but it did win the top prize in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival last May. This tale of aging, sheep-farming brothers (and rivals) Gummi and Kiddi is an eccentric work that offers a unique story and two excellent central performances.
