10 Films to See in February
While January (as is the norm) had little of quality to offer moviegoers other than holdovers from the previous year, February looks a lot more promising. This month will see the arrival of a new comedy from the Coen brothers, a thriller from John Hillcoat, several foreign dramas that have already collected raves from reviewers, and what could be 2016's best horror film.
When director Tim Miller’s big-screen version of Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld’s beloved Marvel creation was officially rated “R,” fans rejoiced by binging on chimichangas. And anyone fearing another watered-down comic book adaptation should be further reassured by news that Merc with the Mouth will hit Blu-ray and DVD later this year in an unrated version. So why all the worry? Well, the only other time Deadpool appeared in a movie as a live-action character was in the awful X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Ryan Reynolds is back as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, but this time the indestructible wise-ass gets to be the star.
