Fall Games Preview: 20 Most-Anticipated Videogames
Below, we profile the most noteworthy videogames scheduled for release between now and the end of the year. Games without official release dates (like this week's new Early Access title Divinity: Original Sin 2) are omitted, since they may not arrive until 2017.
Among the differences between this and the previous iteration of Sid Meier's popular 4X turn-based strategy game, one stands out the most: cities have been "unstacked," which means you'll have to think carefully about where to place your structures, wonders, and garrisoned troops—both in terms of selecting among cities and placement within the city limits. This change provides an added strategic element and, along with a revised research system, is intended to add variability to each game, so that players don't fall into the same patterns on each play-through. Civ 6 comes from the developers of Civ 5's two most recent expansions (Gods and Kings and Brave New World) and features narration from Sean Bean. It is also reported to be friendly to modders (always a plus).
