Fall Games Preview: 20 Most-Anticipated Videogames
Below, we profile the most noteworthy videogames scheduled for release between now and the end of the year. Games without official release dates (like this week's new Early Access title Divinity: Original Sin 2) are omitted, since they may not arrive until 2017.
Nintendo fans have been waiting years for their favorite characters to come to non-Nintendo mobile devices, and this summer's Miitomo (which wasn't even really a game) was just the tip of the iceberg. Next up—before the end of the year—is not just the first-ever Mario game for iOS; it's also the game company's first ever stand-alone game to launch on a smartphone. The brand new Super Mario Run is a time-based endless runner that's designed specifically for ease of use on smartphones, and you'll need to pay to download the full game (which will have no in-app purchases). Expect an Android release to follow next year. While Nintendo is also working on new mobile games in the Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem franchises, those are now not expected to arrive until March.
