Fall Games Preview: 20 Most-Anticipated Videogames
Below, we profile the most noteworthy videogames scheduled for release between now and the end of the year. Games without official release dates (like this week's new Early Access title Divinity: Original Sin 2) are omitted, since they may not arrive until 2017.
Two years after Microsoft acquired the rights to the Gears of War third-person shooter series from Epic Games (and five years after the release of Gears of War 3), a new installment is heading to the Xbox One and Windows 10. Developed by Microsoft's new-ish Vancouver studio The Coalition, GoW4 is intended to return the series to its gritty and tension-filled roots, with a more intimate, personal, and morally ambiguous story that takes place in a 24-hour period (about 25 years after the events of the last game). It is also designed to kick off a new trilogy in the franchise. Note that the co-op campaign will be limited to just two players this time.
