2018 Fall TV Preview: 25 Notable Shows
In the gallery above, we preview the most notable new and returning television shows scheduled to debut between now and the end of 2018. Note that the new fall shows on the five broadcast networks will be profiled separately next week.
Debuts October 12 on Netflix. He may not be a household name, but Mike Flanagan has been one of the better horror directors of the past decade. All five of his commercially released features to date (including Gerald's Game and Ouija: Origin of Evil) have received positive reviews—which is quite an accomplishment for the horror genre.
Next, Flanagan moves to the small screen with a very loose, modern-day adaptation of Shirley Jackson's 1959 haunted house novel The Haunting of Hill House (previously adapted twice to the big screen under the name The Haunting, first in 1963 and again in 1999). Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Timothy Hutton, Elizabeth Reaser, and Henry Thomas star in the 10-episode series, which changes the story quite a bit to focus on a group of siblings who grew up in a famed haunted house, splitting time between their childhood and the present day, when the now-grown siblings reunite at the house after a tragedy.
