Debuts September 28 on Prime Video. Shakespeare's play is pared down and re-set in a fairly bleak, alternate-history version of present-day London in this two-hour Amazon/BBC co-production directed by Richard Eyre (Notes on a Scandal). The main draw here is an excellent cast that includes Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Emily Watson, Florence Pugh, Jim Broadbent, and Tobias Menzies. And it is Hopkins who received the bulk of the praise from the UK press when the telefilm debuted on BBC Two in May. Critics there generally liked the film as a whole, though a few reviewers had some minor gripes—mainly due to the changes made to the original play.
