Which of These New Fall TV Shows Will Fail First?
If there is anything we can guarantee about the fall TV season, it's that at least one of the highly promoted network newcomers will fail to catch on with audiences and meet a premature end. Heck, it happens every year.
But which freshman series will be this year's This Is Us, and which will be its Conviction? Below, we have picked out some of the pros and cons facing each of the new broadcast series debuting between September and November
Pros: It stars Jeremy Piven, if that's the kind of thing you like.
Cons: Who doesn't want to watch a procedural about a rich genius who shakes up his industry for the public good? Actually, everybody—if the recent failures of shows like Pure Genius and APB are any indication. This new series actually seems to share a lot with the latter as well as the recently canceled Person of Interest (Piven plays a Silicon Valley executive who creates a crowdsourcing app to solve crimes), but critics are finding the pilot dumber and less fun to watch than any of those other shows.
