Fall Videogame Preview: 30 Most-Anticipated Games
In the gallery above, find details on the most-anticipated games that are scheduled to be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC between now and the end of 2019, listed in alphabetical order.
Release date: August 27 for PS4, XB1, and PC
The latest from Alan Wake and Quantum Break studio Remedy Entertainment differs a bit from those story-driven games. For one thing, it's not a Microsoft exclusive. And, while it retains the third-person viewpoint, Control finds Remedy ceding just that: It's a far more open and less linear (and, hopefully, more replayable) action-adventure experience, with gamers able to construct their own narratives out of the detailed universe they are placed in.
That universe looks like a bit of sci-fi dystopia with perhaps a bit of horror mixed in. Gameplay mostly unfolds in "The Oldest House," the mysterious, labyrinthine, and architectural headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control, and telekinesis and levitation appear to be a part of this world's supernatural surprises. Early buzz (based on demos at game conferences) appears to be good, though critic impressions of the full game won't be available until Monday.
Note that it's yet another Epic exclusive on PC, though only until next summer.
