The Most-Anticipated Videogames Coming This Fall
Don't be too sad that summer's ending: It just means that the year's biggest videogames are about to start rolling out over the coming weeks. In the gallery above, we preview this fall's most-anticipated game releases headed to every console (and PC), from Red Dead Redemption 2 to a bunch of games that aren't Red Dead Redemption 2.
Out November 16 for Switch (exclusive). Available in ▣ Pikachu and ▣ Eevee versions (with the named character serving as your constant companion), Let's Go is not the first core Pokemon RPG for the Switch that fans were expecting (that's on track for a 2019 release), but instead are slightly more causal games, sort of a cross between 1998's Pokemon Yellow and recent mobile game sensation Pokemon Go. Specifically, the latter's Poke Ball throw-to-capture mechanics are duplicated here, but the story and Kanto region setting are inspired by (though not a clone of) Yellow.
Designed to appeal to franchise newcomers as well as veterans, Let's Go will allow you to transfer Pokemon you already have on your phone in Pokemon Go into the new game, though over 150 varieties will be available to catch. (But you can only get a Mew if you splurge for the new $50 Poke Ball Plus motion controller, which releases on the same day as the games.) There's no Pokemon breeding here, but a few are big enough that you can ride them. Online trading and battling will be available for paid subscribers to Nintendo's soon-to-launch Nintendo Switch Online, and there's even a two-player co-op mode.
