Movie debuts December 9 on Netflix
The second Pinocchio remake of 2022 is fully animated, unlike Disney's somewhat live-action version that arrived in September. Also unlike that other film: It's terrific. Directed by Guillermo del Toro (making his animation debut) along with Mark Gustafson (whose level of fame, apparently, doesn't merit inclusion in the title), this stop-motion musical features the voices of Ewan McGregor, Gregory Mann, Christoph Waltz, David Bradley, Tilda Swinton, Finn Wolfhard, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, and Cate Blanchett. It's certainly a darker take on the oft-told tale, but critics have praised the inventive presentation.
