Movie debuts December 16 on Netflix
Alejandro González Iñárritu's first film since 2015's The Revenant (and his first Mexico-set feature since Amores Perros over two decades ago) is a Spanish-language dramedy centering on a Mexican journalist and documentarian who returns to his native country from his new home in Los Angeles after winning a prestigious award, only to be thrown into an existential crisis. The film arrives on Netflix this month after first debuting at Venice in September and opening in theaters on November 4. Note that the film has been re-edited and slimmed down since it received disappointing reviews at its Venice premiere, though Bardo is still a long movie at around 150 minutes, and newer reviews are as divisive as ever. But fans of the director may still find it worth the watch, especially for its stunning visuals.
