Miniseries debuts December 6 on HBO and HBO Max
Delayed both by COVID and a change in directors (from Alexander Payne to Will Sharpe) after first being announced in 2019, this four-episode crime drama is based on the true story of a seemingly ordinary British married couple, Susan Edwards (played by Oscar and Emmy winner Olivia Colman) and Christopher Edwards (David Thewlis), who become the focus of a murder investigation when two bodies are discovered in their backyard. And they aren't the bodies of two strangers, but the decade-old corpses of Susan's parents. Series writer Ed Sinclair spent hours interviewing the real-life couple, who maintain their innocence, and other participants to create the darkly comedic, perspective-shifting series, while Sharpe (who previously collaborated with Colman in the Channel 4 series Flowers) takes a highly stylized approach to the visuals. Episodes will air on HBO weekly (and stream on HBO Max) on Mondays.
